Who we are

What we collect, and why
The contact form...
... is the only place on this site where we collect personal data.
When you write to us, the form asks for your name, email address, subject and message. Phone number and organisation are optional — you may leave them blank.
What
Why
Legal basis
Name, email address, message, subject
To read your message and reply to you
Our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f))
Phone number, organisation (optional)
To reply by phone if you prefer, or to understand who we are speaking with
Consent — you choose whether to fill these in
We use this information for one purpose only: to answer you, and to continue the conversation if it leads somewhere. We do not add you to any mailing list, and this website has no newsletter.
Website statistics
Analytics
We want to know whether anyone is finding this site, and which pages are useful. We do this with Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused tool integrated into our website platform.
Plausible is designed to measure audiences without identifying anyone:
- It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device
- It does not collect IP addresses, device identifiers, or any data that could identify you
- It builds no profiles and follows you across no other websites
- All measurement data is aggregated and anonymous
This is why you will not see a cookie consent banner on this site. There is nothing to consent to — we are not tracking you.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Because no personal data is processed, this measurement does not affect your privacy.
Cookies
This site sets one cookie: a technical session cookie placed by our website platform, which is necessary for the site to function and for the contact form to work securely. It contains no personal information and expires when you close your browser.
Under EU rules, strictly necessary cookies of this kind do not require consent. We set no advertising, analytics or social-media tracking cookies of any kind.
Videos
The trailer and other videos on this site are hosted on YouTube and embedded using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube does not set tracking cookies on your device unless you actively start playing a video.
If you do play a video, YouTube may then process data according to Google's privacy policy, over which we have no control.
Links to other websites
This site links to several places, some of which we do not operate:
- Patreon — our Guardians of Gaïa community
- gopf-game.net — the online version of the board game
- HelloAsso — donations to the association
- echosdelaterre.earth — the association's own website
- Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram — our social media pages
Once you follow one of these links, you are on someone else's website, governed by their own privacy policy. We encourage you to read it. Linking to a site does not mean we endorse how it handles your data.
Data
Who can see your data
Your messages are read by the people working on the film — a small team.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We do not share it with anyone for marketing purposes.
Two service providers necessarily process data on our behalf, under contract and on our instructions:
- Odoo S.A. (Belgium), which hosts this website and stores contact form submissions
- Plausible Analytics, which provides the anonymous audience measurement described above
Both operate within the European Union. We make no transfers of personal data outside the European Economic Area, with the exception noted above if you choose to play an embedded video.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form messages for the duration of the film project, and delete them within a reasonable period after its completion.
The reason is practical: this is a long-term production. A message from a producer, a festival, a partner or a guardian may still matter years after it was sent, and deleting it early would mean losing the thread of a relationship the project depends on.
You can ask us to delete your data at any time, and we will — see below.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify it if it is inaccurate or incomplete
- Erase it — often called the right to be forgotten
- Restrict how we process it
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest, including at any time and for reasons connected to your particular situation
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Give instructions about what happens to your data after your death
To exercise any of these rights, write to us through our contact page. We will respond within one month.
If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL — www.cnil.fr.
Do you have to give us your data?
No. Nothing on this site requires you to identify yourself. You can read every page, watch the trailer and follow the project without giving us anything.
The contact form is the only exception, and it is entirely voluntary: we simply cannot reply to a message that has no return address.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change — a newsletter, a new tool, a new way of working — we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be signalled clearly on the site.
A closing word
We are guardians of a story about long-term responsibility. Handling your data carefully is a small version of the same idea. If anything here is unclear, or if you think we could do better, please tell us.
